Cochem to Moselkern

Went for a trip down memory lane this morning as Luke spent a few holidays in Cochem as a child when his dad was stationed in Germany. Can it really have been 25 years ago already? Went to look at the pool where Luke won his one and only sporting gold medal in the water slide race. The fact that he was the only competitor in his age group doesn't diminish the glory. Wandered a bit around the town, then cycled a short distance to set up camp near Berg Eltz. Luke also remembered visiting castle Berg Eltz as a child, and it was well worth a return. The 2km walk through the woods felt strange and difficult to legs only used to cycling, and also served to keep the crowds away. The castle was all fairytale spires on the top of a small hill and full of tapestries and painted walls.
