Bernkastel-Kues to Cochem

We thought the weather had improved yesterday evening, but it returned to bite us in the bum as the heavens opened and really chucked it down as soon as we set off this morning. I guess we should count ourselves lucky that at least it waited till after we had packed up the tent. Spent the day constantly removing and then putting our rain gear back on as the day alternated between sunshine and rain. Continued alongside the Moselle following its incredibly sinuous journey downstream. Cycle touring seems to be a geriatric passtime here in Germany. We're at least half the age of most parties we pass, and I'm sure we overtook some octogenarian cyclists today.

Hi there - spoke to Dad - he is in Africa - was impressed you got to 1000km...asked me to tell you he did 38km in one day walking because he wanted to get somewhere interesting. Weather has improved here today - good thing as we have a backyard wedding to go to this afternoon....although they do say if it rains on your wedding it is lucky...I think that is only to make you feel better (just like if a bird drops on your head).

Hey guys,

Just sitting here in the study reading your blog while getting lots of cuddles from mambo. She is really cuddly at the moment so no complaints from me. Congrats on the 1000k, I see the kms per day are increasing! All good here, the garden looks amazing and the tulips are a hit!

Happy cranking,

You may think the weather has been bad down the Moselle Valley, but here in mk it has done nothing but rain, rain and then just for good measure, rain again since Friday. According to the weather forecast it will continue for sometime - oh dear! Glad to hear you made it to Cochem - ah, memories, I bet there have been some changes in the past 25 years though!! I expect by now you are onwards and upwards toward koblenz and the Rhine - so good cycling.....
Just a thought - maybe those 'geriatric' cyclists you have been passing over the past day or so are not as old as you might think - perhaps they are only 35 and their ageing process has been accelerated by too much cycling - just a thought?!...
