Delphi to Eratini

After a day off to visit the ancient Delphi, we set off again following the coast westwards. With undulating terrain we were able to make good headway in the morning. This was fortunate becase we were then delayed by Callie's disintergrating tyres. For the past 500km we have been sewing and patching them with cardboard and duct tape, desperatly attempting to make them last until we rendevous with Luke's folks who are bringing spares. The new tyres are cutting edge and made of space age technology fabric, which we hope will last longer. With the back tyre patched up yet again we made ready to leave, but did not even manage to exit the layby before her front tyre similarly went down in sympathy. Much cursing later we finally hit the road. Our map yet again showed mythical campsites which did not exsist in the real world. Late in the afternoon we stopped in a café to seek local advice. We were told that there were no campsites in the vicinity and the nearest one was back in Delphi. We decided to rough camp rather than fork out for another hotel, and headed for a secluded bit of beach at the edge of the village. Swam in the sea and fixed the puncture riddled inner tubes while we waited for the sun to go down before pitching our tent.

Re:tyres,no pressure then. Best we have them as cabin baggage your need seems greater than ours. Just have to bin the pork pies and mousetrap cheese that we were sure you must be missing. Will they make it to Kephalonia? watch this space. You are in big trouble Luke if we have to drive all over the mainland to deliver tyres!

Don't forget the speakers either daddydoc!!! I don't think there will be much room for any of your carry-on!

Callie lovely to chat to you today....glad to hear all is well and life is good. I'm sure you are looking forward to relaxing and lazing in a villa for a week....blissful!

n-c-m arrived safe and sound yesterday. Veg Gardener is in Wales doing some painting and gardening - appparently it is cloudy but not wet.

It is gloriously sunny here....warmer than normal for August. Lovely nevertheless.

Got the day off tomorrow and Monday is a Bank Holiday so looking forward to 4 days off!

Npt sure what we will be doing - got a couple of dinner plans...really just plan to do whatever we fancy.

Looking forward to seeing you in November - we have booked the flights!

love

Reuters news desk today report Greek police are trying to track down dog killers, believed to be british. A trail of dead dogs leading to a secluded beach has been found. Post mortem reports on the dogs reveal no obvious disease or injury but one loveable cur called Magners was found to have LARGE AMOUNTS OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE SHREDDED RUBBER in his intestines. Nana Mouskori now working as a vet said'it was well and truly bunged up' Heads down slow tavellers and pedal like hells hounds are after you. They are!
