Spent a day off in Selçuk visiting the nearby ruined Roman city of Ephesus. This is the most well preserved site we've visited so far. As well as the usual temple and amphitheatre remains, here there are also some remarkably intact roman houses. The houses even retain several stories and many mosaics and frescos still adorn them. We were enthralled. Soaked up some more atmosphere in the afternoon at the town's weekly market. Headed off the next day, retraced our route to Kusadasi and quickly cycled onwards. Passed seemingly endless swathes of large concrete hotels, and slopes bristling with identical concrete houses. Managed to find a small campsite at the end of the day, and did our first bout of haggling to knock 25% off the price.

Hurray! Slow Travellers return to the blog while travelling through beautiful Turkey. Do not despair Slow Travellers the 'concrete jungle of hotels' will diminish as you venture further south east along the turquoise coast - enjoy the sunshine and the sights while we in UK are rained upon again!!
Happy to see you back on line. The silence is deafening sometimes! N-C-M and Veg Gardener loved Brazil...got a brief e-mail from them.
All is well here, we have spent the last couple of weekends in SF as Alex was in BM for 2 weekends and then we went kayaking. The weather is beginning to change - it is still sunny but there is definately a change in the temperature. This is my 3rd move from summer to fall....am happy to pull out the autumn colours!
Hope you have a lovely time in Turkey - I have very happy memories of my 2 weeks there the summer after my 'A' Levels when I was 18 just before we all headed off to Uni!
love
BigSis
