Skoflje to Kostrena

Continued following the Reka river (which literally means River river) eastwards to the main road at Ribincia. Stopped at a fruit stall to buy elevensies and were accosted by the owner of the café over the road who ran across to look at our bikes and quiz us on our tour. He dragged us back to his café and plied us with free coffee and pastries, while telling us of his planned cycle tour in the autumn when he shuts up his café at the end of the tourist season. Reluctantly we dragged ourselves away and were soon in familiar territory at the town of Illirska Bistrica as we had been there two years earlier on a previous cycle trip. Followed the same route as before to the Croatian border and enjoyed the 20km downhill to the coast at Rijeka. Peddaled on past the industrial town to arrive at the same campsite we had stayed in before. The Adriatic lay tantalisingly close at the bottom of a cliff. We will have to wait until tomorrow to dip a foot in the first sea we have seen since the Channel.

Use a map, you muppet! Also we have posted the coordinates of all the campsites we stayed at in Slovenia. There were alot more sites than those marked on our map. Don't worry, in the next few days we'll write a detailed Slovenia guide for you xxx

Wowee things is hotting up on the blog front, 'I say' muppet is a bit strong though for a family show. I feel certain that the slow travellers have a begging bowl in their stash of essential equipment. Well how else do they keep getting adopted for freebies? Next they will be telling us they just happened on a nice guy with a yacht and sailed The Adriatic' not likely' methinks

"use a map" Is that why you have a GPS! Muppets!!!

Actually all the guide books and maps I've seen dont seem to have all the campsites marked that I've found on the interweb.

Really enjoying your latest photos - great views. Some concern though to see Luke looking so comfortable and proprietorial sitting outside 'his' caravan - is this a pointer to your future holidays...? Although not too sure about even your bicycles being able to tow a caravan - it would give whole new slant to motorway travelling on bank holidays in the UK
