If I were a sports commentator, I would call today a game of two halves. We spent the morning relentlessly climbing evermore steeply in blazing sunshine. Sweat poured and our faces slowly turned pinker. Then, just before we got to the summit at the ski resort of Semmering, the heavens opened. At first we were grateful for the cooling rain, but once we began to speed down the other side of the mountain and the rain turned needle sharp we were suddenly freezing. To top off our luck when we were just short of our destination Callie got her first ever puncture, and the first this trip.

Well, hurrah for 2,826km without a puncture! Seems like I can barely manage a tenth that without one of my tyres blowing up or hissing down...
Lots of it sound like lovely fun, maybe not so much today or the vomiting teenagers a few days back. Although that should give you a feel for the festival season back here in Blighty. Was at a festival by Loch Ness last week, daytimes/evenings were great but after it all closed down campsite at night was full of pissed prowling locals from Inverness without tents, any way home, or intelligble accents. Or very much goodwill towards sassenachs.
Have a fab solstice tomorrow, hope it's sunny when you want it to be and coolingly drizzly when you don't,
Andy x
Told Luke not to put those cheap hong Kong tyres on Callies bike, they never last. I would not advise complaining about rain to us in UK, RAIN I could tell you a few things about RAIN
Wondering who mended that puncture...........?
non-camping (and non-puncture-mending) mum
Lovely to see you back on line - caught up with non-camping Mum and some great photos. Callie your hair has got long....you look great! Wished we had been there! I remember my trip to Vienna in 1998 with Oma it was great fun. Lovely to visit all those places that she had frequented before WWII!
We had a good weekend - went our 2nd ever back packing trip. Hiked 2 miles into our campsite, set up and then went for a 12 mile hike with a 2000 descent and rise!!! It was a spectacular hike but tiring at times.
I thought of you as we had Trader Joe's boil in the bag Indian and wild rice - which was really rather yummy.
We then ventured off to Yosemite for a wedding. We did a 6 mile hike at about 7000 feet before heading off for the ceremony in our shorts and hiking boots. You would have loved where the ceremony was - they got married over looking half-dome. It was an amazing location.
Been back to work for a day now and wish I was not - that is what happens when you have a 4 day weekend.
Anyhow hope to chat to you this weekend
love
BigSis
