Straubing to Passau

Favourable winds and an early start meant that we had passed our proposed campsite by midday. We decided to put the bit between our teeth and head for Passau, the last German city before the border, helped along the way by numerous stops at cyclist cafes. Passau is a lovely old city kept that way due to the fact the it's built on peninsulars of land at the confluence of three rivers which prevents sprawling expansion. The three rivers arrive from different directions, and leave as one eastbound. Although the Inn, arriving from the Tyrol, is the widest and has come the furthest the Danube prevails and carries it's name downstream.

Not long to go now - Oma has left, rest of the UK contingent to follow!

We had a chilly and lazy weekend in the city - went out to a VERY expensive place to eat on Saturday - called Chez Panisse (you can misprounce it if you are not careful) - we had a gift certificate as a present for our wedding. Had a delightful time the food was really good and the service was impecable.

Looks like you are making good progress. Callie you are looking great - love the photo of you against the lamp-post (good pose, bad photo).

love to you both

Not wishing to be biased BUT enough of this bad photo mallerky. The photographer obviously enjoys an eye for beauty and demonstrates a developed sense of composition. Without favouring the central character overtly he captures with some skill the essence of the panorama whist still conveying to the viewer where his real interest lies. The pose at first may be seen as obvious and contrived but on closer study is to be recognised as seductive but with a subtley and innocent more Austin than say Reubens. In short, I like.

Nice new batch of photos - particularly like the trip on the river through the limestone gorge - but Luke is that a hint of curls I see peeping out under your hat?? Are you ready now to head off to the land of singing nuns and lonely goatherds XX
